I swear doctors run on their own time that every so often briefly intersects ours. 🤣 My jaw dropped at least twice reading these. Gotta love a haunted catheter! I’ll never get tired of these 😆
You are so right—doctors (tho’ only surgeons in my experience 🤣) operate in their own quantum time loop that occasionally intersects with our reality like some kind of clinical eclipse. 😩 And the haunted catheter?? Don’t even get me started. 😂😂
Thank you for riding the chaos waves with me. These diaries are half therapy, half exorcism. And I swear, it’s always the urinary system that holds the deepest spiritual trauma. 💀💉 More coming soon—I promise. Hold onto your jaw.
Who knew a leg could transmute this way. I will now cease to take it for granted from now on. I love your diary series, honestly raw, vivid and humorous view of when lives are in limbo. Masterstroke. PS pharmacology is witchcraft, I heard they study quantum mechanics for vibes. Madness.
I swear you just canonized the calf muscle. I’m honored to be your gateway drug to respecting limbs. 😂🦵 And YES—pharmacology is dark academia wizardry. No one knows what they’re doing, but somehow we all agree to pretend we do. Thank you for seeing the madness, the humor, the heartbreak.
This comment? 100% stable. Unlike half my ICU shift. 💉💔
From time to time you may want to switch from ICU to another part of the hospital, though not the Emergency Room. There must be some department that would be less stressful to you. Physician, heal thyself! If you burn yourself out you increase the hospital's patient load.
Jim, I hear you — and trust me, I’ve considered every unit from ortho to psych to the parking lot. Some of us aren’t built for “less stressful” — we’re built for fire, as long as we don’t forget to cool the coals sometimes. I’ve actually thought about transitioning into teaching. I used to be in academia before I became a nurse, and lately the idea of guiding new nurses, mentoring, maybe even shaping how we teach trauma-informed care… it’s been tugging at me. But yeah, until then — I’m working on the healing part. One herbal tea existential spiral at a time. ☕🫠
What a roller coaster I was on reading this. At first I had no clue what I got myself into. Half way through and I was still there and couldn’t stop. The satire and creative style choice, amazing!
I laughed and felt baffled at the cases described in equal measure Solena. What nurses have to endure in order to keep a human being alive while having to tolerate their nonsense is truly beyond description. You are superhuman and magical beings, healing humans and even banishing evil spells fom EKGs and possibly angry spirits from urinary catheters. The way you put this all together is entirely genius. Thank you for this sharing this part of your life with humor and information I could not have learnt anywhere else.Glad you're back!
This is the right space for being seen in all your unhinged, genius, magical self and I do see you, and I admire both your pofession, being a nurse is no small feat, and your genius writing talent to put all these experiences on paper in a way that is informative, deep and extemely funny, in the most magical of ways.Looking forward to the chaos!
Ooohhhh so many stories!!
I hope you enjoy them! 🖤
💕💕💕💕 I'm sure I will

Mariah!!! I’m CACKLING.

After experiencing childbirth, I totally believe that! 🤣 I can’t wait for more! 💀
I am learning so much about the medical world from these beautiful posts 😮🫶
Ahhh thank you, Sana! 🩺💉
If I can teach anything while screaming into the Substack void about hallway madness and medical-grade emotional damage, I consider that a win.
I’m so glad these strange, blood-splattered little diary entries are helping you glimpse our beautiful and brutal world.

How do you decompress after a shift? A glass of wine or a tranquilizer? It's good to see you have not lost your sense of humor.
oh jim… if only it were as simple as a glass of wine or a benzo 😅
after a shift, i usually decompress by staring at a wall, questioning the nature of existence, and then emotionally whispering to my cat.
occasionally i add herbal tea and 2mg of existential dread.
humor’s just my last functioning coping mechanism—thankfully, still intact.
appreciate you reading through the chaos 🩺💀

dorian!!! that is exactly the vibe—mild disorientation followed by full emotional hostage situation 😌
i’m so glad you stuck with the chaos and let the satire drag you through the med cart.
thank you for riding the roller coaster and calling it what it is—an unhinged nurse diary stitched together with adrenaline and sarcasm.
more incoming soon… hope your seatbelt’s still on 🩺💉

😭😭😭lia… you get it. you really get it.
thank you for seeing the wild holy mess that is ICU nursing—equal parts medical exorcism and emotional whiplash.
i swear some urinary catheters are absolutely cursed and the EKG leads just know when you’ve had enough.
your words made me laugh and tear up and feel so damn seen.
thank you for letting me be unhinged and honest and for calling it genius instead of concerning 😭
i’m so glad to be back too—there’s so much more chaos to come 💉
